Impact of KVK

  • Technology transfer: Dissemination of improved agricultural and allied-sector technologies from research institutions to farmers.
  • Increased productivity: Adoption of improved varieties, scientific cultivation practices, better nutrient management and integrated pest/disease management has enhanced farm productivity.
  • Income enhancement: Promotion of high-value crops, livestock, fisheries, value addition and farm-based enterprises helps increase farmers’ income.
  • Capacity building: Regular training programmes, demonstrations, exposure visits and advisory services improve farmers’ technical knowledge and skills.
  • Problem-solving at field level: KVKs provide diagnostic and need-based advisory services for crop, livestock, fisheries and other farm-related problems.
  • Climate-resilient agriculture: Farmers are supported with technologies and advisories for managing drought, floods, heat stress, changing rainfall patterns and other climate risks.
  • Women empowerment: Training in food processing, value addition, nutrition, livestock, fisheries and entrepreneurship creates additional livelihood opportunities for rural women.
  • Youth entrepreneurship: Skill development and enterprise-oriented training encourage rural youth to take up agriculture and allied activities as businesses.

  • Improved resource-use efficiency: Promotion of soil testing, water management, balanced fertilization, composting, integrated farming and other resource-efficient practices.
